5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent !, November 3, 2007 Phyllis L. Swenson (Fairfax, VA United States)

This magnificent DVD of sacred space music and haunting visuals is like taking a journey through fluidic, crystalline space. When I watch these stunning visuals and listen to the hypnotic music I feel as if I am being taken out of this world into a world of angelic bliss. This has got to be what heaven or a higher multi-dimensional world is all about.

There is so much awesome beauty to behold and enjoy on this incredible DVD. There is the hour long adventure of "Luminous Voyage" which carries you into various movements of sound and color with crystalline water and magnificent skies, descending into waves of abstract ocean depths and finally through the vortex of the heavenly world of angels. There are also selected luminations of "Sacred Spaces", "Crystal Radiance" and "Angelic Realms" that feels like bathing in crystal waterfalls.

This is definitely one of the most stunning meditation DVD's I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It will not only inspire you to behold a world of magnificent beauty, but will also lift you up to experience a sacred voyage through the luminous dimensions of inner consciousness. What a wonderful way to relax and unwind.

Very highly recommended.

Luminous Dimensions is an animated DVD presentation by Michael DuBois that features music by Jeff Pearce, the ambient community’s premier guitarist. The music is gorgeous. The title video is set to These Waters Wide, a long piece that Jeff composed and performed live for Star’s End, a space music radio program on WXPN in Philadelphia. It is, quite succinctly, some of his best music. Michael interpreted the music to contain six movements and he constructed his video around them.

The first movement, for which Michael has no title, is a daytime journey over shimmering waters beneath bright skies. Jeff’s music – cinematic, calm and serene – sets the stage deftly as he allows his euphoric atmospheres to caress the soundscapes and envelop the listening/viewing space in overt clouds of joy and harmony.

The film and the music segue smoothly into “Nightfall,” the second movement. While the images are darker, the music is not. Jeff takes the higher road and treats the night as another stage of enlightenment. There is no dark ambience here – only radiant bliss.

The third movement is “Refractions” and, while the music shifts slightly, the video’s focus remains steady. It brings out some of the water’s more exotic qualities. The music reflects exotic peace.

“Descent,” movement four, is a journey beneath the water’s surface. Thus, there are some darker and more ominous passages. They define the journey but not the discoveries.

“Depth,” movement five, is where the mysteries are revealed as light returns – to the film and to the music. The images are surreal. The imagery is serene. The journey continues as the euphoria extends itself.

The sixth – and final – movement, “Ascent,” takes listeners/viewers back towards the surface. The light that lures the adventure emanates, however, from well beyond the surface and well into the clouds in the heavens. It is to that goal that Jeff takes the experience.

This is a transcendent journey, taking listeners across and into the aquasphere then to the outer realms of reality. By design or by coincidence, the pieces that accompany the other videos are from To the Shores of Heaven, one of the strongest euphoric ambient releases of all time. It is quite easy to connect crossing These Waters Wide to get To the Shores of Heaven. That is exactly where this journey ends – at those shores.

This is an extremely important and essential release in the ambient community. It belongs in any ambient library.

Luminous Dimensions is a unique presentation combining stunning visuals with beautifully relaxing music. The animation by Michael DuBois is deeply meditative and is light-years beyond other animation videos we've encountered in the past. Combine wonderfully hypnotizing visuals with the soothing sounds of ambient music composed by Jeff Pierce and you have the perfect mix.

We encountered the Luminous Dimensions DVD more than a year ago. It immediately made it onto our Recommended Books & Videos list, and rightfully so. Luminous Dimensions is a blissful journey we feel you'll thoroughly enjoy. The DVD is a fantastic tool for relaxation, meditation, pain management, or shamanic journeying. The music is delightful and has a very peaceful, calming effect. You may even want to leave the music playing in the background as you read, work, or do yoga, though we find the animation equally hard to resist! If you play the DVD for background music and happen to walk by the television, you may very likely find yourself entranced by the amazing eye candy this DVD has to offer.

For me, this video is a dreamy reverie - a slowly-evolving, smoothly-transforming vision. Rather than a rich variety of visual effects, Michael DuBois stays with one effect for a long, long time, and just lets in "settle in".

This creates the seductive effect of just "pulling you in" to an extended visual meditation. With no sudden unexpected surprises to "jar" you out of your reverie, this is the most ideal video program I've discovered so far, for an extended visual meditation. I would not be surprised if this program is effective at inducing alpha and theta brain wave states.

The visual patterns are "soft", with no sharp borders. This contributes to the tendency to just get "entranced" into the visuals. In fact, the track I find most "entrancing" is not even the 1-hour "featured presentation", but Sacred Spaces.

The music, by Jeff Pearce, though not quite my own "cup of tea", is nevertheless very well suited for this program, because it has long sustaining sounds, and it also evolves smoothly and slowly, with no sudden changes.

If you're looking for a continuous parade of interesting visual effects, don't get this. But if you are wanting to get "entranced" into an extended visual meditation, this is it!

This feast of light and sound will send you into another realm. Use it as a great tool for transformational practice, or just create a peaceful ambience of light and sound for your home, office or anywhere you find yourself.

Set to Hearts Of Space style music, the flowing shapes and colors are glorious. I play this DVD all the time. I look forward to more from Michael DuBois and Jeff Pearce.

Highly recommeded.

I have used this video in multiple therapeutic settings (group process, partial hospitalization, pain management, stress management groups) to assist with relaxation and meditation exercises. Patients speak highly of the video, stating surprise that "such a simple thing can make you feel so good & relaxed". I have benefited by having multiple resources for teaching through one medium. Excellent work guys!! I look forward to your next projects. There is nothing I've come across so far that comes close to reaching this level of therapy.

Great experience!

I really loved this DVD. A very deep travel into a digital and spiritual world. My favorite chapter is the one in the clouds and with some light beings crossing the screen. Just divine!

Luminous Dimensions DVD fills up my imagination. It's full of light, full of positive energies and sometimes you can even see some marvellous energetic entities. It's an absolute thing of beauty. Thanks to Michael Dubois for this unbelievable work.

Great stuff. You'll find the video part totally amazing. And add to that Jeff's music and it truely is a sight and sound smorgasbord. Eye candy, ear candy, what's not to like? Try putting on the video part, hit MUTE and put another Jeff Pearce CD in your CD player. Works well with other Pearce CDs But yeah, get it. I've seen a LOT of these kinds of *ambient* music video productions and this is by FAR the best animated video out there.

Well, fans of the ethereal ambient music of Jeff Pearce can rejoice over this unique animation video combining the animation of Michael DuBois and Jeff's transparent soundscapes. The animations on "Luminous Dimensions" attempt to represent the majesty and mystery of worlds within. The main course is the almost hour-long "Luminous Voyage", divided in 5 movements. This track features visionary vistas of water, sky and inner space next to Pearce's remastered long form track "These Waters Wide", which was originally recorded live on Stars End radio. Next are 4 "Luminations" which explore different aspects of the luminosity of imagination, and a compilation piece containing some of the best scenes from the DVD. For these tracks formerly released freeform music of Jeff Pearce was used. This is a well-crafted audiovisual experience and a must-have for those who love well composed ambient space music. Very well done.

This is probably the most gorgeous video i own. It is basically angelic music like Iasos, Aeoliah or Demby made visual. These Visions are very similar to actual places i have travelled within during shamanistic angel workings. Anyone who enjoys the music produced by Iasos will find it immediately enchanting. While the video is deftly keyed to the music, one can of course put any music on in its place.

The music is high caliber ambient by Jeff Pearce, who uses guitar to create sonic washes of impressive dexterity. It's an hour long piece titled, "These Waters Wide" and should appeal to people who like classic Ambient without the drumbeats or techno edges. This is spacious, gaseous music, oweing something to Steve Roach, i think, but with definite angelic luminousness woven within it. Radiant treasures appearing then gone amidst mysterious clouds and hidden rumblings. Sparkling, awestruck, rapturous moments of intense radiation and not really that much water in it, whereas angelicists tend to like very shiny radiance and pure water with only slight vapors if any, this music is more about concealing/revealing and the hidden questions of our Life Within the Cosmos. In all, it is quite pleasant and mysterious, all the better since the visuals are tailored to it. It is a gentle meditative low alphawave drone environment.

What would be very interesting is a collaboration between this video artist named Michael DuBois, and an angelic composer like Iasos or Michael Hammer (well, not "like" them but one of them.) The video i've seen so far is far more compatible with them. i would even say that DuBois should study their music for further insight.

Anyway, i'm almost certain that this will be my DVD of the year and it is likely i will give copies as gifts to people i care about.
