Featuring:
• Luminous Voyage - an hour long journey into visionary vistas of water, sky and inner space. Jeff Pearce's re-mastered long form: "These Waters Wide", originally recorded live on the Stars End radio broadcast, inspire the luminous imagery in this vibrant journey into archetypal form and color. Carefully and lovingly crafted, each luscious scene closely follows the ebbs and swells of Jeff's inspirational music.
• Four "Luminations" - each a unique animation exploring different aspects of the luminosity of imagination.
• A Compilation compositing some of the best scenes from the entire DVD.
The Luminous Dimensions project is a personal vision of inner luminosity.
Combining the evocative power of music with the ever-shifting play of form and color, the animations on this DVD attempt to faithfully represent the majesty and mystery of worlds within. By means of simple and often archetypal imagery and movement - such as water, sky, clouds, crystalline forms, landscapes and abstract architectural forms, subtle visionary worlds reveal their splendor.

Luminous Voyage begins with a daytime journey over the ocean waves. The waters convey a dreamlike quality - ebbing and flowing with each passage of the soundtrack. The sky is dynamic and unearthly, yet fully organic with a depth of color and movement. Throughout the entire program, animation is intentionally unbroken. Slow flowing movements characterize the seamless passages... in a word: fluid. The virtual camera never cuts, - each scene flows imperceptibly into the next in one long take. The second movement entitled Nightfall, extends our vision of water and sky into the power of the night. The light has changed, and the water has taken on a more dynamic crystalline quality. The third movement is titled Refractions, and is a hypnotic trance of surface light and movement. Again closely following each musical nuance, the startlingly real yet unearthly water reveals its luminous secrets. The fourth movement Descent, takes us below the waves. The world below is one of darkness and unfamiliarity. Movement and darker tones follow the ominous musical passages, slowly but surely bringing us back to beauty as underwater luminosity reveals the next section, entitled Depths; - continuing our underwater journey into a lighter and deeper vein. The underwater sections are largely abstract, with few correlates to the familiar world, excepting the movement and light of deep water. Imagery is surreal yet the movement and perceptual depth are realistic. Ascent is the title of the last movement, wherein we turn upwards towards the surface. The light we find ourselves irresistibly drawn towards becomes the imaginal light of visionary space - moving us through a numinous tunnel of transcendental passage, then emerging into an archetypal scene above the clouds. The ascent continues ever-onward through energetic passages, finally shifting into true visionary realms. Luminous Voyage runs approximately 58 minutes. |
